Every year, more and more people do not have enough to eat. As of the report issued by Canada’s food banks, there would have been a 28% increase in food aid, and a 72% increase in food assistance since 2019. Moisson Sud-Ouest serves three RCMs: Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Beauharnois-Salaberry and Haut-Saint-Laurent totalling 44 municipalities, supporting 85 organizations.

The general manager of Moisson Sud-Ouest, Stéphane Spisak noted that the data issued has expired by a few months. With demands continuing to rise, they all expect the numbers presented to increase.
Moisson Sud-Ouest addresses the population
Moisson Sud-Ouest collects, sorts, stores, and redistributes food on a daily basis. Today, members reached out to the business community in the region to help people in a hunger situation. The number of people using food assistance has increased by 60% in the Suroît region. Every month, nearly 11,351 people seek help, 44% of whom are children. Mr. Spisak therefore addressed the population and invited them to donate not only food, but also donations to meet all the logistics necessary for the mission of Moisson Sud-Ouest.
Moisson Sud-Ouest needs funding, new facilities and supplies. Claude Reid, CAQ member in Beauharnois, asked for everyone’s help: “ I am appealing for solidarity, which is what is at stake today so that we can, I hope one day, end hunger among families”. In fact, his colleague Marilyne Picard, CAQ member in Soulanges, as well as himself are committed to donating $ 5,000 each to Moisson Sud-Ouest as part of the volunteer action support program.
