On December 1st, thousands of volunteers from across the province took to the streets to collect donations as part of The Media Food Drive. VIVA MEDIA and partners volunteered their time to collect donations for Moisson Sud-Ouest looking to make a difference. While these have decreased in the greater Montreal area, The Media Food Drive in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region has broken records.
Thus, on December 1st, 574 hours of volunteering were done by the involved companies, people from the political sphere, and people who wanted to offer their time to the cause.
Helping families in need
All donations raised during The Media Food Drive will go to Moisson Sud-Ouest. This food bank serves the RCMs of Beauharnois-Salaberry, Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Haut-Saint-Laurent, including more than 80 organizations.
In Quebec, since 2021, monthly requests for food aid responded to have increased by 20%, reaching 2.2 million.
