The acquisition of this land located on route Harwood, halfway between chemin Daoust and côte Saint-Charles, would preserve a vast green space. With a total area of 196,396.1 m2 (2,113,990 ft2 ), it would offer several possibilities in terms of outdoor activities and recreation for citizens. This project is nonetheless subject to conditions, notably the entry into force of Loan By-law No. 1805.
“The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion has a wide range of parks and green spaces, says Mayor Guy Pilon. We have more than 50 landscaped parks, with play modules, water games and sports fields and 4 canine exercise areas. A few years ago, we also acquired the land from Pères de Sainte-Croix as well as that of the Frères du Sacré-Cœur. The Harwood Golf Club is a great opportunity for us to preserve another green space and benefit our citizens.”
By acquiring the Harwood Golf Club, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion would ensure the natural preservation of another place of interest. This would be added, among other things, to the Bray Island Park (24,480 m2 or 263,500 ft2 ), to the park at 405 avenue Saint-Charles (21,189 m2 or 228,076 ft2 ), the former property of the Frères du Sacré-Cœur, and on the grounds of the Pères de Sainte-Croix (47,900 m2 or 515,591 ft2 ). The city mentions that this type of acquisition aimed at developing a harmonious and sustainable living environment is part of the 2020 – 2025 strategic planning.
