The mayors of four municipalities were re-elected and one outgoing councillor will undertake a first term as mayor while five outgoing mayors were defeated in the municipal elections held on Sunday, November 7th in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.

Voters reappointed Mayor Andrée Brosseau of Coteau-du-Lac, Mayor Yvon Chiasson in Saint-Zotique as well as Shawn Campbell in Saint-Justine-de-Newton and Julie Lemieux in Très-Saint-Sacrement. The outgoing candidate for a position of councillor, Marie-Claude Frigault was elected mayor of the city of Rigaud.

Mayors Jamie Nichols (Hudson), Raymond Larouche (Les Cèdres), Yvan Cardinal (Pincourt), Pierre Lalonde (Pointe-des-Cascades) and Philip Lapalme (Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac) defeated Chloé Hutchinson (Hudson), Bernard Daoust (Les Cèdres), Claude Comeau (Pincourt), Peter Zytynsky (Pointe-des-Cascades) and Mario Tremblay (Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac).

An exceptional turnout, the highest in Quebec, was achieved in Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac where 69.2% of eligible voters exercised their democratic right. Conversely, the cities of Pincourt (28.2%) and Rigaud (34.4%) recorded a very low voting rate.

The closest election took place in Saint-Zotique as the outgoing councillor of District 5, Jean-Pierre Daoust was returned to power with a majority of one vote over Marie-Martine Richer, the count being 273 to 272 votes. The same scenario was observed in Terrasse-Vaudreuil in District 5 when candidate Isabel Boulay defeated Gilles Lepage by the tiniest of gaps, 243 to 242.
