The battle for mayor of Beauharnois ended on November 7th with a victory for outgoing councillor Alain Dubuc, succeeding outgoing mayor Bruno Tremblay.

Four candidates were in the running for the mayor, namely Mr. Alain Dubuc who obtained 3450 votes, Mrs. Roxanne Poissant 548 votes, Mrs. Lara Quevillon 1351 votes and the outgoing mayor Bruno Tremblay 651 votes. Note that the turnout is 45%, or 5,033 voters.
Reached by phone, shortly after the announcement of his victory, Mr. Dubuc said he felt, during his door-to-door visits, the support of the population for him. He takes the opportunity to thank all voters for their confidence, stating that he intends to be up to the task. He also thanked his team, mentioning that everyone has worked extremely hard over the past year.
“I will start by meeting with the elected councillors. Then we will get up to date with the situation of the city, because we have heard a lot of things. We will make this clear, once and for all, and then we will present it to the citizens. This is the first thing I want to do”, replies Mr. Dubuc when asked about what is his priority.
Mr. Dubuc emphasizes that he has been thinking about this day for a long time, so he is ready to take on the challenges that lie ahead.
Municipal councillor since 1994, Mr. Dubuc announced, on March 1st , his intention to run for mayor. “Eight months later, I am extremely proud of my election campaign, which was honest, transparent and humane. Without frills and without empty promises, I offer thoughtful, sensible and realistic commitments for the city of Beauharnois!”
My experience as a manager of a cooperative generating more than 60 million in revenue and my studies in business administration and economic development are distinctive and important assets of my candidacy and I am very proud of them.
Over the past few months, I have had the pleasure and privilege of meeting citizens, business owners, our precious merchants and city organizations to discuss the issues and priorities of their community. We must admit that we all believe in a Beauharnois that is more inclusive, welcoming, safe and sustainable! There is a lot of work ahead of us, but I believe that together we can achieve very large projects, for the benefit of each citizens of Beauharnois.

In closing, I would like to once again thank my great team of ambassadors who have worked with me from the start. You are exceptional people and together we will win on November 7th”, wrote Mr. Dubuc, on November 3rd, on his Facebook page.
Remember that Mr. Dubuc was general manager in a cooperative generating more than 60 million in revenue. In addition, he has accumulated 30 years in the same cooperative. He also has a university degree in business administration and economic development.
