Yves Masse, President and CEO of the Integrated Health and Social Services Center of Montérégie-Ouest (CISSSMO), explains that with the establishment of these clinics, the CISSSMO meets the objective of having a vaccination site per local service network (RLS) in the territory of Montérégie-Ouest.
“I am extremely proud of the thoroughness and speed shown by our teams in setting up vaccination clinics, which are major and essential in this fight against COVID-19. The staff is ready to vaccinate!” says Mr. Masse.
85 years old and over
The government of Quebec has announced that vaccination of the population aged 85 and over, born in 1936 and before, is now possible. In fact, the time slots show that this age group was really waiting for the vaccine. Vaccination days are already full.
“The start of the vaccination of the population marks a very important step in the current vaccination campaign, says Dr. Julie Loslier, director of public health for Montérégie. I personally invite everyone 85 and over to make an appointment without delay. Subsequently, people of different age groups will be called upon to be vaccinated. We only ask that you to be patient.”
Hope
For Dr. Loslier, the deployment of the vaccination campaign among the population gives a lot of hope in the fight against the pandemic. “Even after receiving the vaccine, people will have to remain vigilant since the vaccine takes several weeks to be effective, she says. The virus is still circulating, more contagious variants have been identified in Quebec. We must therefore continue to monitor public health measures to continue to protect the most vulnerable people.”
Appointment
People in the prioritized category, who wish to obtain the first dose of the vaccine are invited to consult the page quebec.ca/vaccinCOVID to make an appointment online and, thus, follow the progress of the vaccination campaign by region.
Those who do not have access to the Internet or who have difficulty using it can call 1 877 644-4545.
