Volunteering has always existed and volunteering is more chic than ever! This is the theme announced by the Fédération des centres d’action bénévole for National Volunteer Week 2021. Classic, unmistakable, volunteer action is timeless. It moves and moves at the rate of societal change and the evolving needs of the most vulnerable. The health crisis we are experiencing today is a perfect example.
The Volunteer Action Centers and community organizations have brilliantly rethought volunteering to meet growing demand while scrupulously respecting the various protocols. Through a press release, L’Actuel specifies that it would like to thank all the volunteers in the region who were present and adapted so that the services can continue when it was necessary to evolve in an unknown and changing world.
Also according to the press release, Volunteering provides many benefits for both the physical and psychological health of the volunteers themselves. Indeed, according to a survey conducted by the FCABQ, in November 2020, among people who volunteered during the Covid-19 pandemic, 77% of respondents believe that the mere fact of being involved had a direct impact on their psychological well-being. It also shows that it has flourished in them a real sense of personal development and better self-esteem.
Plus, there are many studies in the past that have shown that volunteering can strengthen the immune system, decrease the frequency of heart disease, and even lower blood pressure.
