Stéphane Spisak, General Manager of Moisson Sud-Ouest does not hide his joy. His satisfaction is understandable since the organization has seen a 30% increase in requests for help. “Previously, we had 7,500 requests per month, whereas this year there are 8,000. Of this number, 44% of beneficiaries are children”, said Mr. Spinak.
Hundreds of volunteers scattered across the region to collect donations. This year, they were 300 volunteers, each one smiling more than the other to be stationed at the targeted intersections.
“There were fewer motorists than in other years, but people were more generous, says Mr. Spisak. I thank the people and the volunteers for this outpouring of generosity. This year we had 12 collection sites.”
Other donations
Although the D-Day of the Media Food Drive has passed, the period for donations, whether online, by mail or directly by contacting Moisson Sud-Ouest, only ends on December 31st. “People can make donations at: moissonsudouest.org”, says the general manager of the organization.
No money in my pocket
Several motorists wanted to give. However, many did not have any money in their pockets. Stéphane Spisak explains that discussions and steps will take place to provide the event with a form of contactless payment by credit or debit card. “I know it was done in Montreal. This is an option we cannot ignore for next year.”
