Spreading the magic | VIVA MÉDIA Skip to main content

Nostalgia for the Christmases of yesteryear is in the heart and memories of Véronick Beauchamp of Valleyfield. For the mother, spreading the magic of the holidays to her 4 children is essential to create an environment full of magic.

A new resident of the La Baie neighborhood in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Mrs. Beauchamp unveiled her new outdoor Christmas decorations. She set up a letterbox, initially intended to receive the letters from her children to Santa Claus. Then, since a postal mailbox belonging to Canada Post is located in front of her home, she offers neighborhood parents, via a Facebook page reserved for residents of the neighborhood, to use it for their children.

To improve the outdoor set-up, she moved the children’s summer house near the mailbox. Then, she began to decorate it, giving it a little magical touch. Not far away, she placed little chairs, little bears and two Nutcrackers with the mission of supervising the letterbox. In addition, Mrs. Beauchamp, visibly good with her hands, made wooden gifts, which she then decorated beautifully.

“It’s important for me to keep the magic of Christmas alive, since we don’t have the Christmases we used to have. I wanted to re-establish traditions for our children. When I was little, my parents would wake us up at midnight for gifts, there was always a big setup around that”, says Mrs. Beauchamp.

Thus, she staged on her property, Santa’s workshop, explaining to her children that the latter had chosen them to collect the children’s letters. Their mission is very special; it consists of transferring the precious letters deposited in their letterbox and then depositing them in that of Canada Post.

Mrs. Beauchamp’s spouse, visibly proud of the magical set-up created by his sweetheart, published a post on the Spotted Valleyfield Facebook page, inviting the entire population to use the Workshop’s mailbox, located at 735 Saint-Jean-Baptiste street.

“My spouse did a spotted to add to the magic. Our children love to look out the window. They wonder if there are any other children who have been good this year. Yesterday we had letters, I went to pick them up with my oldest. The Canada Post employee was there when we went. My daughter handed him the letters saying it was for Santa Claus. Makes a great topic at home. Children often wonder if someone has come to drop a new letter. We get dressed, go out and go see. At the same time, it gets us out of the house.”

Mrs. Beauchamp points out that the City already offers to the citizens to send letters from the little ones, intended for Santa Claus, but that if it is more useful for some residents to come to her home, they are welcome. Plus, she invites people to feel comfortable to take pictures if they wish.
