The Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign will be back from September 14th to the 20th . Once again this year, 18 restaurants in the region, located in the municipalities of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Vaudreuil-Dorion, Pincourt, Rigaud, L’Île-Perrot, Coteau-du-Lac, Saint-Lazare and Les Coteaux will join forces with the Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît.
Sold at a cost of $ 1, each Smile Cookie allows the Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît to directly help the most disadvantaged young people in the Robert-Cauchon neighborhood of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. Note that this project is possible thanks to the support of a multitude of partners, including the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest.
Since 2018, the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign has been organized in the region for the benefit of the Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît. In 2 years, more than $ 43,000 has been raised thanks to the generosity of Tim Hortons’ franchisees and citizens. This sum was dedicated to a promising project aimed at supporting young people and more particularly, disadvantaged families in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
“All of the funds raised by the Smile Cookie campaign are dedicated to supporting underprivileged young people in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. In 2019-2020 we were able to ensure the food security of dozens of children in the Robert-Cauchon district. The meals distributed, even in times of a pandemic, have the effect of developing a strong social fabric between participants, school, community organizations and parents living in poverty. This collaboration allowed our young people to start their lives on the best possible foundation,” according to Michèle Cyr-Lemieux, Executive Director of the Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît.
3rd best seller in Quebec
The Tim Horton team, located on rue Alphonse Desjardins in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, stood out in 2019 through its involvement in the Smile Cookie campaign. Indeed, they obtained the 3rd place among the restaurants having raised the most important amount. This year, the team is aiming for first place and to do so, invites the population to come to this branch to purchase their Smile cookies.
“On average, we produce and decorate 1,500 cookies daily. Our teams are committed and dedicated to the campaign. They are happy to participate. They do it in good spirits and especially with a smile. It’s a challenge they face together because it’s important for them and for us to be involved in the community. You know, the franchise doesn’t make any profit on the sale of Smile cookies. It pays for the cookies and all proceeds go to the Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît, which is also very involved in the process. Moreover, working in collaboration with them is great because they are very proactive,” said Dan Lajeunesse, manager of Tim Hortons restaurants in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield.
