Over $ 2,500 for the creation of nurturing facilities | VIVA MÉDIA Skip to main content

The CPE La Relève and Butterflyway of the David Suzuki Foundation have once again demonstrated their community commitment through the deployment of actions to safeguard biodiversity.

In order to continue the Butterflyway initiatives, the CPE obtained financial support from the RCM as part of a call for projects from the Community Development Fund of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges RCM. This $ 2,500 funding will strengthen the educational component of the project and create nurturing facilities favorable to pollinators in schools and preschools in the region.

Soon aiming for the Excellence level of the sustainable childcare program of ENvironnement JEUnesse, the CPE La Relève Vaudreuil-Soulanges has already demonstrated its sensitivity to the preservation of biodiversity by collaborating with the volunteers of the Butterflyway since the beginning of 2021.

This team of volunteers, supported by various partners such as the Caisse Desjardins, has so far contributed to making more than 35 plantations in the region, thus allowing the towns of Vaudreuil-Dorion and Saint-Lazare to register among the “Butterflyway” listed across Canada by the David Suzuki Foundation.

“As part of the project, citizens, schools, businesses and municipalities are made aware by the volunteers of the David Suzuki Foundation of the importance of using native plants in green spaces in urban areas”, said Isabelle Bissonnette, spokesperson for the team of volunteers.
