The Montérégie West Community Network (MWCN) is pleased to announce the launch of the VAUDREUIL-SOULANGES ENGLISH-SPEAKING SECONDARY STUDENT TUTORING project.
Thanks to the precious collaboration of the Lester B. Pearson School Board (LBPSB), John Abbott College (JAC) and MWCN, between 25 and 50 high school students (selected by LBPSB) will receive assistance from college student tutors (selected by JAC) to allow them to be assisted in the academic subjects of French, English, mathematics and science from January to August 2022, in order to ensure that they have access to higher education at the college level upon completion of their high school studies.
It was at the table de concertation de réussite éducative et sociale des jeunes de la Municipalité Régionale de Comté de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (RÉS-MRC-VS) that these three partners met and were able to develop this TUTORING project to meet the needs of young people in difficulty. The members of the table gave their unanimous support to recommend this project to the Instance régionale de concertation en persévérance scolaire et réussite éducative de la Montérégie (IRCM), which in turn unanimously recommended funding for the project to the Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec (MEQ).
It is thus from a local consensus that this project will see the light of day with the support of regional and provincial authorities (IRCM and MEQ). The Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec granted an amount of $43,125 to ensure the realization of the project.
MWCN works to foster the development of the English-speaking community in the Montérégie West region, including Vaudreuil-Soulanges where the Pincourt office and team are located.
There are 46,000 English-speaking citizens in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, 40% of whom are primary and secondary students.
