As Easter is known to many as a Catholic celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, it is also one of tradition where family gatherings are enjoyed the most.
Children often start this tradition with an Easter egg hunt, we get dressed in our Sunday best as some may attend church for an important celebration and end the day with a feast shared with family and close friends. As we were not able to gather again this year, we can only hope that we are working towards our somewhat normal lives again. Easter is the start of new beginnings, the fresh flowers and sunny weather that are always appreciated with the coming of spring, the togetherness of family and celebration and the gift of giving.
MWCN always wants to include our community members by offering something nice and thoughtful, especially during these hard times of loneliness and isolation when it’s possibly even more appreciated. This year for Easter, MWCN is delivering creative and colorful Easter cards made by Soulanges Elementary in St-Télésphore. The senior students wrote the inside messages and the juniors designed the beautiful artwork.
The students at Pierre Elliott Elementary made colorful Easter baskets with their talented, crafty hands that have been delivered along with the cards and some chocolates to some of our isolated seniors. The gift of maple syrup is another gift to our lucky members, a sweet treat that we put together from Érablière Sherrington in Havelock and Beaver Meadow Farm in Athelstan.
