Located on the banks of the Châteauguay River, the municipality of Huntingdon is recognized for its beauty and tranquility. Proud of its 4 churches, the City has an interesting heritage.
The municipality was founded in 1825 by the British Regiments of King George of England following the English victory over the Americans during the War of 1812. The king then grants land in the region as a reward to the British soldiers in order to facilitate English and Scottish colonization. The history of the Town of Huntingdon is evident with the remains that stand proudly where we look. It should also be noted that several public buildings, churches and houses were built there in the Edwardian and Victorian styles.
