Established for more than 65 years in the region, GRACE Canada is an important economic partner for the Suroît region with more than 100 employees and significant economic benefits. Rooted in its community, the company supports various small and large charities. “What’s important to us is to help where there’s a need”, notes Geneviève Fortier, director of the GRACE plant.
Demonstrating a great ability to listen to the different realities experienced in the community, the company and its employees have invested significant sums over the years to support the well- being of the citizens of the region. “The pandemic will have brought its share of difficulties for several organizations, and we are trying, with the means we have, to support all those who ask for our help”, says Geneviève Fortier.
And this involvement has had many faces over the years. Whether at the vaccination clinic organized by the CEZinc or the Special Olympics, the GRACE teams try their best to support the community.
“But our community investment budgets are limited. Therefore, we are grateful to be able to count on major donations from the GRACE Foundation”, says Geneviève Fortier, plant manager.
For 2022, three community organizations have received funding from the global foundation. All working in health, but in different niches, the Haut-Saint-Laurent ZIP Committee, Moisson-Sud-Ouest and the Suroît Hospital Foundation all recognize the importance of GRACE’s involvement.
There is a very important link between human health, the ecosystems, and the physical environment. Humans need a healthy environment to maintain their physical and psychological health. For many years, the HSL ZIP Committee and GRACE have created an important partnership to invest in a healthier environment for the local population, says Erin O’Hare, Executive Director of the Haut-Saint-Laurent ZIP Committee.
Supporting health also means meeting basic needs, such as food.
“We would like to thank the management and employees of GRACE for the collaboration brought to our food bank. We are happy to be able to count on this major partner, who, since the start of the pandemic, has provided personalized and constant support to the food security of her community. This precious help allows us to ensure the sustainability of an essential service in the region.” said Marie-Andrée Prévost, chair of the board of directors of Moisson Sud-Ouest. It should be noted that GRACE donated more than $32,000 in addition to material donations intended for the 85 organizations served by Moisson Sud-Ouest.
For the Suroît Hospital Foundation, a donation of $19,175 adds to the company’s impressive history of donations. “GRACE has been involved with us since 1991 and to date, more than $344,500 has been donated to the Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît to improve health care services in the Southwest. This is very important, and I am happy to be able to recognize GRACE today as a major donor to our organization” Karl Savary, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Fondation de l’Hôpital du Suroît.
GRACE employees are proud to help in the development of organizations that support the environment, the health care services and food sustainability to the needy. They contribute to making our region, a great place to live.
