While browsing Facebook, it is possible to find pages aimed at making a difference in the lives of others. This is particularly the case for the page En Bonne Compagnie dans le Haut-Saint-Laurent, which offers ideas for breaking the isolation for seniors.
En Bonne Compagnie dans le Haut-Saint-Laurent aims to improve the living conditions of seniors by enhancing the voluntary offer of home services, through active partnerships. In these difficult times, the organization is proposing the Let’s Visit Our Seniors: Christmas Differently challenge, which consists of finding alternatives to support seniors differently.
“In this time of pandemic, all the actions we take together are helping to break the isolation felt by many of our seniors. In solidarity with them, the Comité de concertation des aînés du Haut-Saint-Laurent, in collaboration with the age-friendly municipalities and the Générations engagées project, is launching a special edition of the Let’s Visit our Seniors of Haut-Saint Laurent Challenge which will be held from December 1st, 2020 to January 10th, 2021”, we can read on the organization’s page.
Concrete and easily achievable actions are proposed. For example, virtually sharing a meal, sending a Christmas card, making a phone call and indulging in a meaningful and friendly conversation.
The importance of small gestures is often underestimated. Caring for others manifests itself in simple actions whose positive repercussions are invaluable to those who receive them. This year, let’s collectively take the challenge of visiting not only our seniors from Haut-Saint-Laurent, but from everywhere.
