On Wednesday October 7th , 2020, at around 6 p.m., the Akwesasne Mohawk Territory Police Service SAVE team attempted to conduct a boat check on the St. Lawrence River, in the Fraser Point area of Dundee. The police operation was prompted by a sighting of loading several black garbage bags. The boat failed to stop in front of the police, and the two passengers were seen throwing the garbage bags into the river as the boat was speeding away from the police. The boat and its passengers fled the area west towards Akwesasne territory.

About 20 bags unloaded in the water were recovered and were later confirmed to contain contraband tobacco. The evidence has been turned over to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), which is investigating.

The suspect boat was described as a blue-gray hydrogen-powered yacht with hull number AKW450 and having a single 300 hp white Evinrude outboard engine.

The pilot was a tall, slim build man of about 25 years old with fair skin and dyed reddish brown hair. The passenger was a fair-skinned man with a brown mustache and dark glasses.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the two suspects is asked to contact the Cornwall RCMP Detachment at 613 937-2800. If you would like to make an anonymous report, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222-8477.
