It is with enthusiasm that Pascale Jeaurond-Lajoie, communications officer at the museum, told us about the new exhibition put on by Michel Morissette.
Mr. Morissette has gathered dozens of artifacts from the museum’s collection. The exhibition therefore presents a selection of domestic accessories that could be found in homes from the last quarter of the 19th century, explains Mrs. Jeaurond-Lajoie. These objects are sometimes unusual and are very different from their contemporaries.
“It is a lot of fun to visit this exhibit, says Jeaurond-Lajoie. We often find ourselves in front of objects that we do not know the usefulness at first glance. You have to take a good look at it and to understand their usefulness is entertaining.”
The exhibition will be presented on the Facebook and YouTube page of the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges on February 21st . Exhibition designer Mr. Morissette will give a full tour of the site with comments on some of the artifacts, according to the museum’s communications officer. The exhibition will then be available until December 22nd , 2021 on the Web and in person soon, hopes Mrs. Jeaurond-Lajoie.
Virtual Musée-art
The Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is pleased to offer teachers a virtual and turnkey version of its Musée-art workshops.
Inspired by the exhibition For the Love of Horses by Shernya Vininsky, this activity offers a tour of the room, descriptions and comments on some paintings. There is of course a demonstration of the artistic creation to be done in class, explains Pascale Jeaurond-Lajoie.
“Students will create a horse or horse’s head artist-style using the concepts of cool and warm colors, adds the museum’s communications officer. Shernya Vininsky developed her own technique by painting on tissue paper.”
The cost is $ 3 per student and this includes most of the material and the link to listen to the video clip. Teachers that are interested should write to educart@mrvs.qc.ca.
